Artist Tina Berning makes her New York debut with her solo show “100 Girls on Cheap Paper,” an exhibit of paintings and illustrations of women on cheap and decaying paper. At once beautiful and haunting, Berning’s works scratch the polished surface of contemporary femininity, giving the girls she draws back an expression beyond beauty and surface, so that they endanger the collective standard…
